A wine glass with a stem is necessary, so that you can tilt and swirl the wine and hold the glass well away from the heat and smell of your hand. Don’t use coloured glasses – a tulip-shaped glass is preferable which concentrates aromas better towards the taster’s nose; the glass should have the thinnest possible rim. Don’t fill it more than half-full.
